As people age, homes and workplaces that were once easy to navigate becomes difficult to manoeuvre, as old age diseases and disabilities set in. Exactly this is kept in mind when designing the luxurious 7 star Retirement village in Markaz Knowledge City. It is specially designed for the comfortable living and ease of navigation of the elderly (ages 65 or higher). It was important that the architect knows to design a retirement community that speaks to the needs of an ageing group of residents. The practical aspects of a live-in retirement village also need to be taken into account when during the design process.
Some of the elements that needed to be considered were easy access to grocery and other retail shopping, public transportation, pharmacies, healthcare and restaurants. A convenient means for delivery of essential items to the residents should also be incorporated for the lesser mobile retirees. This project includes 150 flats, ayurvedic hospital, masjid, auditorium, theatre, yoga centre, badminton court etc.
